I agree with the idea of not sending Xmas cards to everyone you know, in an effort to save paper. BUT I also think that in this digital, fast-paced society a handwritten card is extremely meaningful and personal in a way an email never can be. I think that taking the time to write a note (even a very short one) and including a recent family photo is worth the paper usage.
