Members of the UW community gathered around big screens on campus to watch Barack Obama being sworn in as U.S. president. Obama's memoir has been chosen as next year's Common Book.

UW Common Book Luis Alberto Urrea will read from his new book, "Into the Beautiful North," at the University Book Store Thursday, June 4 at 7 p.m. The Seattle Times says "Urrea's meticulous detail makes the story come to life" and calls Urrea a "terrific storyteller."
