Greater Richmond Chapter American Red Cross Our Disaster Teams helped 30 people who lost their homes to fire over the weekend. The cold weather season always brings an increase in house fires and already we are realizing a higher volume of activity. Nine of our disaster action team volunteers were kept busy over the weekend as they helped 30 displaced fire victi...ms with aid for lodging, food, clothing and other emergency needs. The fires were in homes located in Goochland, Henrico, Chesterfield and Richmond. You can download a fire safety tip sheet from our website.

The American Red Cross, Southside Area Chapter is helping 30 people displaced by the recent Poplar Forest apartment complex fire with debit cards for food and clothing. “We could have also provided shelter, but everyone located housing,” stated Rosalyn Andrew, Chapter CEO.

The American Red Cross is on the scene of a Farmville apartment complex early morning fire that displaced at least 31 people who lived in 21 damaged units. The complex, located at 1013 Poplar Grove near the Longwood University campus was also home to at least 5 Longwood students.
