Ben Tyler Folsom Phoenix Light Rail: Price hikes are a go. The ASU U-Pass is no longer free. Well I guess 5 years of sales tax and tuition hikes aren't enough to subsidize it anymore. I think $3.50 a pop would be too much for a roller coaster, much less for a lift down the block. I've been a huge supporter of the light rail since they were having foc...us groups about it in 2001, but this situation is starting to look blatantly lame. I say boycott-bring a jar full of retail receipts as proof of fare and refuse to accept citations until prices aren't set arbitrarily . http://www.asu.edu/parking/pdf/news/2009-06_PTS-News.pdf

And aren't they just kidding themselves-2.50 was already pushing it for the casual rider trying to go green. How about charging a dollar or two for park 'n' ride? They're generally going more than a mile or two anyway.

i hear that it's going to be 5.25 for bus riders who do not purchase a ticket at a keosk or at the grocery store.

I'm torn on this issue. Are we a great society that offers great public services, or is Phoenix a business, and every cost affects the bottom line? Somehow we need to meet in the middle. I definitely don't agree with the fair hikes. I am only a casual user, but think about the low-income commuters who have to take public transit every day.

Last train would leave each end for one last trip at 2. If you are in Tempe or Downtown Phoenix, you should have about 20 minutes to get to the station before the last train passes.

it will be interesting to learn how this affects the rate of alcohol-related accidents on the Phoenix roads and freeways; hopefully it reduces them. please follow and release those stats on your facebook page!!
