Religion Dispatches The first lesbian Episcopal bishop tells us that so far the response to her election has been "positive and joyful." But schism looms...

www.religiondispatches.org
Conservative Episcopalians have denounced the election of only the second openly-gay bishop and the Archbishop of Canterbury has urged bishops to not seat her. But others, like one of the first women priests, aren't worried about the well loved bishop-elect who remains focused on her duties.

Wow Joe i think you are on to something. if the common people knew what the most powerful men in the world (not necessarily govts) are setting up to do, they would stop them but as history has repeated over and over again, and we will probably be next. think of all the super powers from history and they all have a common goal, To rule the world. so yes we are being lulled into thinking everything is alright. think paranoia? I dont think so

ahh.... the ironies of institutionalized mysogeny. interesting to note the author uses the phrase "rule of thumb". in the early 1900's, british law stated that a man could "beat a woman with an object no larger in size than his thumb", thus giving rise to the expression

As a historian, I am constantly looking at the textbooks my kids use. Many of them biased but even worse, is the outright mistakes that exist. And this is what we are using to teach our children. We are in BIG trouble!

Religion Dispatches Remember the Terri Schiavo case? The opponents of health care reform do...and they're using it in ways that defy logic.

www.religiondispatches.org
Opponents of health care reform have raised the spectre of Terri Schiavo to mobilize "pro-life" activists and the elderly, but what they forget is that this case was a powerful instance of an unpopular government intervention in a family matter. They can't have it both ways.

Palin and the far right are tying to confuse their followers into believings Our Heavenly Father is a liar. The Blessed Jesus called the liar - the devil - and that is what she follows.

John 8:44 (King James Version)

44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.... See More
