EMILY's List

EMILY's List is wondering what self-proclaimed moderate would want Sarah Palin's help?

www.huffingtonpost.com
When word broke that self-described moderate Republican Mark Kirk was angling for kind words from Sarah Palin for his U.S. Senate bid, the response from his rivals was savage and uniform. All three leading ...

I don't understand why anyone outside of Alaska would seek her help. She didn't even finish her first term as governor.

Why would anyone seek her help? She is both a stark, raving lunatic and not very bright to boot. A dangerous combination.

Kirk's positioning might have seemed to make a perverse sense, but it's been a disasterous move. Illinois Republicans come in two forms -- the Chicago North Shore suburbs (like the ones Kirk has represented), which are socially liberal but low-tax/pro-business, and "Downstate" areas, which are indistinguishable from any other Bible-thumping, small... See More-town, pro-Palin regions of the country. The pro-Palin areas already have their own candidates, which have predictably jumped on Kirk for a lack of authenticity, and the North Shore folks wanted Kirk for NOT being a radical rightist.

The divide between these two camps has been a problem for the IL GOP for some time, basically since the era of "Big Jim" Thompson came to an end. It's fine by this IL Democrat if the GOP continues to eat its own, but it's still bizarre to see that the last decade or so has taught them nothing.

Your Damn Right Health Insurance Reform Matters To This Women! and many others as well. I think too many Americans are just down right self absorbed and don't think. Life is too precious,it's here today and gone tomorrow we better pull together support what's right for the people as a whole and make this country great again.

Women and children are the worlds poorest peoople. That is why health reform is so important. Women who work are the poorest workers. Health insurance for them is out of the question. In the Scandinavian countries women have a larger represntation in government. These countries have a good health care system, maternity leave, free education through to university, and they have a self sufficient clean energy system. It does help to have women in positions of pwer.

Ted Kennedy and the other candidates for his seat have stood up for women's rights more so than Martha Coakley has - I would wish that Emily's List supports the BEST candidate - not the woman candidate.

As a liberal-Democrat-Massachusetts-voter, I am not sure Martha is the best candidate in this group either. The only easy vote is not Pagliuca.

Love Pelosi. And can we tell Harry Reid to keep his mits off her? The day he puts his arm around Gore and says that all Dems will be good little war puppets is the day he can do that to Pelosi. I guess we have to make allowances that he is from cousin-marrying territory.
