Ivan Mazuze is one of the most outstanding saxophonists in the music scene of South Africa and Mozambique. He has an extensively musical experience with internationally acclaimed south African artists as well as top bands. His debut album entitled "Maganda" has diverse ...styles with strong African music influences. Press release Debut CD by Ivan Mazuze - Maganda The long-awaited debut album of saxophonist Ivan Mazuze "Maganda" portrays the saxophonists’ influences of various southern African cultures as well as his continuous jazz studies. Mazuze incorporates chopi and muthimba rhythms, the maskandi and marrabenta styles with the stylistic features of jazz and latin jazz on various tracks of the album which results in a largely varied repertoire. Maganda, which is also Ivan’s traditional name, is a document of his musical journey and experiences. From the start this talented young man had a clear vision of what he had to do in order to succeed in the music industry. Mazuze realized that educating himself and mastering his instrument was not enough, and while studying he set up his own production and publishing company to handle the administration and business side of his career. Mazuze released his debut CD "Maganda" on Imazuze Music (January, 2009) in South Africa. The CD features some of the top South African musicians: Alvin Dyers – guitar Júlio Sigauque-guitar Lucas Khumalo – bass Frank Paco-drums Kevin Gibson – drums Mark Fransman – piano Camillo Lombard – piano Andrew Lilley - keyboards John Hassan – percussion Tony Paco – percussion Graham Beyer - trombone Melanie Scholtz - vocals Nomfundo Xaluva – vocals Hlulani Hlangwane – vocals Heinrich Frans – vocals The album is now available in most online music stores, in selective independent music shops in Cape Town as well as at live performances. The online magazine www.CapeTownMagazine.com “is passionate about South African music and particularly music from Cape Town. In this country and in this city we are blessed with musicians who not only have spectacular musical talent, they also know how to communicate wise and colourful insights through their songs – whether via words or via rhythms. Ivan Mazuze is undoubtedly one of those people!” (February 18, 2009).
