Integral Life Is Bill Maher Too Smart for God? Or Not Smart Enough?

integrallife.com
Bill Maher, host of the HBO talk show Real Time With Bill Maher, often asks his guests: "How can someone as smart as yourself actually believe in this religious stuff?" It's fair question, one that a great many people ask themselves every day, and forms the premise of ...Maher's recent comedy/document...

One thing I expected Ken to comment on was Bill Mahars statement that Fundimentalism = global annihilation and that it is an underlieing wish for death that drives it. It seems parrellel to the driving theme of Up From Eden or could be enhanced much by fitting Bills perspective into an Up From Eden Context. Because it seemed to me that Bill was ... See Moresaying something to the effect of our drive for something of contentment when channeled into a religious veiw that falls short of that is leading in its mythic structure its followers into an expectation and need for Armaggeddon. I've seen in myself that effect - when you want change so bad you almost wish bad would happen for to wake people up. But he is asking us to mature to a point where we loose the need for catalclmic realities and find inner balance or peace and contentment from anther source within/ i don't care if he only accidentally brushed into it/ i got that message . I see room for more dialog and a closer look at his driving intention for the film. Becuse this message made it mainstream through this medium. Point is i havne't seen it anywhere else really than in Up From Eden. Please look at it again from this merit.

Seriously! Why can't people use their talent to create a spectacular vision of what could be wonderfully possible. What a waste. I suggest that we all take a deep breath and envision a wonderful world. Why not, what do we have to lose.

Personally, it will be like any other day...........too bad the tsunami didn't appen Dec 21 2012 that would of created some conversation. As a species, we may not make it, which will be too bad considering billions of years of evolution that brought us to this place. Blood sweat and tears, we have made giant leaps in our evolution in some areas of our development.
The movers and shakers, people that have the power must envision.

Here Ken discusses two very different approaches to spiritual practice, both of which need to be recognized and honored in order to bring ourselves into the fullest possible relationship with ourselves, each other, and the world around us.

Great reminder of the finite self and the ever present Self. I liked how Ken pointed out that our integral practice is not to achieve something it is rather to express more radiance and expansiveness.
