The neighborhood around Transfiguration went to hell around the early to late 1960s. They closed the church in 2000, took whatever they could to outfit newer churches in rich sections of the country and let Transy rot for nine years before allowing it to be demolished.

Terry: nice to meet you. what a shame about Transfiguration, it's great that you 'knew' it before it was abandoned. any old pictures of it? even in the report written about it in the 70's they mentioned a demographic shift that was threatening its stability. i wish they would have made some effort to fix it up too. it was gorgeous.
