The most interesting thing about beer writer and historian Dale Van Wieren for the moment is that the man has tasted and logged notes on nearly 10,000 beers and doesn't think for a moment that such behavior is at all unusual.

Dale's accomplishment is awesome no doubt but he isn't number one in the USA. Personally I am in the low 8 thousands, but as you can see here Bob and Ellie Tupper (yes, those Tuppers) are FAR ahead. Sorry to be such a kill joy but, facts are facts. This from a note back in March 2007...

As some of you know, Ellie and I are nearing the tasting of our 15,000th beer. This is an invitation to bring a beer and join us for a tasting at the Brickskeller on April 4th where we will write notes on #15,000.

When we turned 10,000 (we sometimes feel that old) we auctioned off a small event at the Brickskeller and raised some money for Children's Hospital. We want to do things a bit differently for this occasion for several reasons.... Read More... See More

Our 10,000th beer was from the Pelican Brewery in Oregon . It had won a medal at GABF so we were pretty confident it would be a good beer for the occasion. It was.

SLY FOX BEER thinks this is cool but not super practical... on the other hand, we'd support a fan with beer and design if they wanted to emblazon a frequently used R.V.

By the time you read this, I’ll be in the mountains above Gualala, a few hours north of home, sprawled out in a rustic cabin for a much needed battery recharge. But going camping again reminded me of something very, very cool that I saw in Boston at the Craft Brewers Conference last month. ...

SLY FOX BEER is brewing AUTHENTIC cask beers!

www.slyfoxbeer.com
Sly Fox is starting a new beer program. We are going to produce "real" cask conditioned beer. I guess it is not really new; we have filled firkins in the past, but never a whole dedicated batch. We routinely tap cask beer at our pub in Phoenixville, and we have filled firkins for special events. .....

SLY FOX BEER Are you CANTACULAR? Do you know someone who is?

Sly Fox is extremely proud of our cans and we have the sparkly silver shirts to prove it!

I see no difference in taste between bottles and cans. Actually, beer is more likely to have it's taste affected in bottles because the light reacts with the hops and can make a bad tasting beer. Sly Fox is my camping beer of choice!
