Living here in San Antonio myself, I would love to go out there and check out the area myself, but the thought of a possible 7-8 foot bigfoot wandering around the area kind of puts a damper in that idea...

I read in our local paper that a landowner near Paris, Tx. has been getting game camera pictures of a bear at his deer feeder. And, the Del Rio, Tx. paper had an article about a bear walking down Highway 90 right in town! Black bears are in Texas for sure. Increasing numbers & expanded ranges are the things to note.

they also say there arent any cougars or panthers but i and my old neighbors have seen them!!!!

That area was "rough country" 25 years ago when I was stationed at Ft. Polk. Does not look like it's changed for the better.
