Mark Kirk Negotiations with Iran in the absence of effective sanctions have failed. Time to enact real sanctions.

This is a start, military options will only make the leadership stronger and galvanize the waivering population against the US. Strong steps have to be taken with Russia and China because I think they love the US to be distracted and humiliated by Iran's leadership. Venezula will try to come to their aid but their oil is so bad and they really don't have a quality refining capicity other than in the US. Good Luck...

Sanctions will not work. It will hurt the people, not the leaders. If you want to do the right thing, then you should attack the nuclear facilities. The cold war worked because there was a real fear the other would retaliate. Now, the world does not fear the US, and the longer we allow Iran to build nuclear weapons. The fewer people will care ... See Morewhat we say.

At some point, you need to back up words with actions. We say you cannot have nukes then we have to take them away. How does it makes sense to say no nukes, so we take away your gas???

It's sure amazing how Mark has become the Champion of everything Conservative, Especially now that he wants to become a Senator. Funny how he changed right after his was one of only Eight Republican votes for Cap And Trade. Wonder if he'll go back to voting like the Old Mark if he gets elected to the Senate? No... That's never happened to us before!

Illinois Rep. Mark Kirk... See More’s vote for cap-and-tax was a factor in the state GOP delegation refusing to endorse him for a Senate run.
Very few politicians have received more in contributions from Exelon (Com Ed.) over the years than Mark Kirk. But one who has is also a huge supporter of Cap and Trade. According to The New York Times, since 2003, executives and employees of Exelon have contributed at least $227,000 to Barack Obama’s campaigns for U.S. Senate and for President.
Back in February of last year,
The New York Times also detailed how Obama helped Exelon as a U.S. Senator. The same story also noted that Obama’s chief political strategist David Axelrod had worked as a consultant to Exelon…Exelon has been a leading supporter of Cap and Trade. By Michelle Malkin•July 15, 2009

Honestly Mark has ALWAYS been a supporter of sanctions against Iran. Same with being a hawk against terrorism. I didn't like the cap and tax vote, either, but to see he's ever been anything but a true conservative when it comes to foreign policy is just a lie.

Conservatism Didn't Lose in NY-23
"The huge story of NY-23 is the shambles the Republican Party 'big thinkers' made of it. They nominated a horrendous candidate -- a liberal Republican -- and then when she left, they praised her, even as she endorsed the Democrat! Conservatism did not lose.
What lost was Republican ineptitude and incompetence in selecting the wrong candidate from the get-go. " -Rush Limbaugh 11/04/2009

Conservatives are sick and tired of being taken for granted, misrepresented, and talked down to by the same "elite" Republicans in Illinois and Washington who hopelessly screwed everything up during the Bush years.
Everybody knows exactly whom we're talking about here.

The same snobby, elitist, stuffed shirt, squishy, poll-obsessed Country Club ... See MoreRepublicans who went to D.C., forgot who put them there, wasted the incredible opportunity they had to change this country for the better, and are now pointing the finger at everyone except themselves for their mistakes.

No Mark, we do not want sanctions on Iran, all that does is piss off the Iranian people and add more people to the already large group of middle eastern people who hate us. You talk about stopping terrorists but all sanctions will do is add fuel to the fire. Putting sanctions on Iran does nothing as the elite in Iran wont feel the effects of these ... See Moresanctions. Only the people on main street will be hurt by these sanctions. When the Iranian people ask for an explanation for why this is happening, they will be told that the US has again stuck their nose in a place where it doesnt belong and they will be justified in doing so.

Phil Hoza had a very good, informed response. Military action will indeed shore up an unpopular regime, however we are running out of alternatives quickly. If we can get Russia and China on board sanctions will work but I dont see it happening -esp. with China. I suspect the Israelis will not wait much longer, and I cant blame them.

in the U.S. House and Senate have spent the spring, summer and fall grappling with how to fix the health care system. They're still trying to craft a bill they can sell to Americans -- or even explain in plain English. And the Republicans? Well, as the minority party, they're mainly on the sidelines....
