He's 50% english mastiff, 25% Neo, 25% english bull dog. Usually, I just tell people he's a bull mastiff. Now he's a year old 130lbs., and looks like a dark brindle tight skinned Neo.

It always seemed funny to me that positive reinforcement training even has to be promoted. Positive reinforcement training always made much more sense to me then hurting/punishing a dog. What's the old saying, 'you get more bees with honey then vinegar?'

The Whole Dog Journal Great article in the November Issue of Whole Dog Journal from Pat Miller! Be sure to check it out!

www.whole-dog-journal.com
Whole Dog Journal contributor Pat Miller reports on treat reward-based training based on positive reinforcement; but what do you do when your dog can t or won t take treats?
Dave
Dave
I've had tremendous success hand feeding dogs that will not take treats. This also has a lot of other good side effects, such as being an effective counter conditioning method for hand shy dogs and dogs that are uncomfortable with people approaching. I require it for all dogs and puppies that attend my classes. You can modify this method to change a number of unwanted behaviors.

Pat - you just made my day! The stop/ go technique when the dog pulls on a leash worked so well with my dog that I now tell others about it, including dog walkers who have trouble with larger dogs.
