Fractal Foundation

Fractal Foundation Hey - I just donated a beautiful fractal print ("Seahorse Soliloquy," one of my favorites) to KUNM for their online auction. Bidding begins this weekend. Go check it out! KUNM has been very supportive of the Fractal Foundation, so it's a pleasure to return the favor...

Fractals are the images of infinity. Fractal patterns are found all over nature, over a huge range of scales, from the microscopic to the galactic. Infinitely complex fractals can be made using algebra and computers, and we can zoom into these strikingly beautiful patterns forever.

This is indeed a good show, and I recommend watching it online.

First take of a new collaboration between FractalFoundation and WolfeSongs. It's not quite finished or polished, but I think it's so beautiful I can't help but share it right away.

Yup - it's Daniel's music (from http://wolfesongs.com) and it's really, really good. Usually, I make the fractal animation, and then I have him compose a soundtrack to it. This time, I had him create the music first, and then I animated the fractal to it. This way, I can really make the imagery dance to the music, and I think it's one of our most successful collaborations yet.

Another soundtrack for FractalFoundation.org. This one is more electronic than anything I've ever done before, but man oh man was it fun to do!

We are proud to announce the launching of an online fractal course. It has been developed by the Fractal Foundation in collaboration with UNM under a grant from the NM Public Education Department.

Tim Fractal Foundation: Can fractals make sense of the quantum world?

www.newscientist.com
Many of the predictions of quantum theory seem too weird to believe, but the mathematics of fractals could help them make sense, says Mark Buchanan

This article actually kind of makes sense! And it deals with something I've long suspected: that the same kinds of fractal complexities we see at our scale must also be happening at quantum scales...
