Thanks for the update Beth.I am so glad that the jury gave her life plus 25 yrs for the attempted murder of her 7 yr old.
Her 7 yr olds testimony is i believe what won the case for the prosecution.I dont care what her husband says .if her husband knew she had these type of mental problems then he is just as much to blame for allowing her alone ... See Morewith the kids.also he could have had her committed by taking it to court. but he didnt do that either . she had sought care in yrs.dont use this excuse just because youve seen a shrink int he oast
i just hope and pray that the father doesnt take the verdict n sentencing out on the little boy he has been through enough.

Beth, Happy Holidays! I'm a teacher and will be off this coming week. I was looking forward to watching In Session. But, according to my TV guide, it looks like there won't be any court/trial coverage this week. What's up? Thanks!

Beth Karas InSession The Iowa jury deliberated for just under two hours before convicting Michelle Kehoe of first degree murder and attempt to commit murder. I'm doing liveshots tomorrow from the courthouse then heading to NYC by the late afternoon.

www.cnn.com
An Iowa jury found Thursday that a mother with a history of depression knew right from wrong when she slashed her sons' throats, killing one and leaving the other permanently scarred.

Richard, how true, how could the husband have not steped in & gotten her the help she needs. What was he thinking, where is his rational. If he would have gotten her some psychiatric help, maybe this wouldn't have happened, she had previous attempts. What happened was so horrible, poor little children, I just hope she does get some psychiatric care... See More in jail. I don't envey the jury on this one, I think they made the right decision though. I hope people look at this case & take notice, so maybe if someone out there needs help, the people around them will recognize it, to avert another senseless tragedy. Thanks Beth for always guiding us laymen through the judicial procedings, you're fabulous.

Is there any way we can get to see the Verdict form. Can CNN or IN SESSION or TRU TV post it on their website. I am interested to see if the Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity was on the verdict form for the jury to deliberate. If you can post it on your facebook page will be very appreciate. thanks.

Thanks for the updates. This is a very troubling case. Killing your children is just wrong. The old "criminally insane" excuse is getting old in these type of murders.

Beth if it wasn't for you and Jean, In Session would not be worth watching you two make such great reporting that the public gets to see the trials through your expertise as lawyers. It is much appreciated by the viewers that your reporting is without your own personal views .

Judy, I think what they are saying is "heat" which is the name of an automotive product that you dump in your tank in the winter to keep the gas line from freezing up. Not sure of the chemical makeup but I'm sure it wouldn't be good for you.

What a truly sad case this is. I think someone should haved helped the mum long ago, perhaps none of this would have happened. She does seem to have long deep seated mental illness. I know the insanity defense is often overused but in this case, it's probably true. Just a horrible chain of events which led to tragedy. Thank you beth for your expert coverage, you are always a vision, My best to you gorgeous.

Can you please tell us the jury's reaction, if any, to the autopsy photos of little Seth?? I see the Michelle had little to no reaction to the photos, is that correct? Did the jury show any reaction to them? Thanks for your great work!!

Thank you so much Beth. Seems like the look on her face would take muscles to do that. Would an upper lip be able to do that naturally? Almost a pout.

She is a troubled woman. Suicide does not mean mentally insane, was there enough documentation from the past ten years to prove mental ill-health, other than suicide and PRIOR to the killing?

I appreciate you so much!

Even though there is some complexity to this case, Mr Darling clearly is among those responsible for the poor child's death. What is this Scarface?? He should ... See Morehave plead guilty. Does he feel no remorse at all?? A liittle 9 year old dying in her mum's arms, is just an irreparable loss. I looked on the Florida Corrections website to check what Javaris Andrews was in prison for . 2nd degree murder , about a month after this one. Looks like he did a whole 14 months for that. If I'm Leroy Larose, I have to wonder why I was treated so harshly by the justice system. The Florida Justice system is broke and needs fixing. I have a friend that was popped with an ounce of pot and he gets 7 years.

I think imposing a stiff penalty on the defendant for an accidental shooting of the little girl will not do justice to the victim's family. also, the fact that one guy is getting seven years in prison and the second guy may get life in prison, when they are clearly equally guilty, will only complicate the live of the family of the victim. I wonder ... See Morehow the victim's family feel about it. I wonder how the community feel about the sweet deal that Leroy Larose got in compare to the life sentence that Damon Darling may get.
