Volunteering Canterbury:
Invitation for volunteering and internship in Indiahttp://www.ivolunteerhub.com/all_program s.php Hi, Volunteer with a non-profit NGO that makes it easy for foreign residents to come to India and volunteer for NGOs in their areas of interest. I hope all of you will see this as an opportunity to plan a donation drive or ...few-day volunteer effort that will make a difference in the lives of homeless or formerly homeless people and educate residents about their goals. Apart from being a spiritual and uplifting exercise, it is also a low cost alternative to vacationing abroad. It is a great program for unemployed as well. I am looking to add you as my friend so that we can help connect people interested in volunteering and NGOs. We are looking students for internship in India from abroad. They will be getting a good experience by going in community or participating in education and other trainings. Our registration fee is for $195, air fare, and other local transportation charges. If you want to live with community or family then food and accommodation charges will be free of cost. We will be providing free safety and security. Great concept from youtube!
Organisations advertise for volunteers to video the groups activities and post them on youtube. I didn't see any NZ groups advertising but couldn't see any reason why NZ groups couldn't do this. At any rate I thought the term Video Volunteer was great and I am sure there are young people in ...particular who would have the skills and enthusiasm to do this work for NZ groups.

Volunteering Canterbury:
Hi everyone - Please join us on Facebook here http://www.facebook.com/worldofdifferenc e for your chance to receive funding to work for your chosen overseas charity for a year (UK residents only).
Back in July 2008, we asked the UK public: what would you do if you could devote a whole year of your time to a charity and g...et paid to do it? The amazing chance to work for your dream charity plus up to £25,000 towards your outgoings was on offer, thanks to World of Difference, a programme established by The Vodafone Foundation.
Hundreds of people applied to put their jobs on hold for one year and donate themselves to work for their favourite charities. We were overwhelmed with the quality of responses and as a result, our judges selected not just four, but six individuals to make a World of Difference.
On Thursday 18th June 2009 we are launching World of Difference again, so start having a think about your charity partner now.

Applications for the the World of Difference UK programme have now closed, but here's some background information on what is involved in the scheme: The World of Difference UK programme, delivered by the Vodafone Foundation, will give 500 people the power to make a difference by taking a two month, paid placement with... a UK charity of their choice. World of Difference UK is open to anyone over 18 in the UK who has with the passion, drive and commitment to donate themselves to a charity. Applicants were able to identify a charity to suit their interests, skills and experience before applying. Applicants were able to use an online Charity Matchmaker tool to seek out a charity. For successful candidates, the Vodafone Foundation will pay the charity they choose £2,500 and they’ll get the balance when tax and National Insurance has been paid. Vodafone UK will also donate a new mobile phone and pre-paid credit to each of the 500 successful applicants so they can share their experiences with friends and family and inspire others to make a difference. The first placements begin in January 2010. In addition to the World of Difference UK programme, eight people have been selected to take part in the Vodafone Foundation’s World of Difference International programme. The winners (Nick Eastcott from Dorset, Kathryn Becher from Devon, Lucy Buck from East Sussex, Max Griffiths from Bolton, Noami Pendle from Bath, Zoe Vowles from London, Rebecca Webb from Southampton and Jain Reid from London) beat 1,000 applicants to work for their chosen charities overseas for 12 months, with salary and expenses paid up to £45,000. The international projects are now getting underway and we will be posting regular updates on their experiences.

Great article in "The Press" this week about Daphne Rogers who won a Volunteer Recognition Award. Daphne received this award for her 40 years of voluntary work delivering meals to the sick and elderly. Well done Daphne!
I wonder how many other people out there have volunteered that long? We would love to hear your stories.

This week I have been thinking about how common it is for Volunteers to work in more than 1 agency.
While 2004 statistics from USA suggest most Volunteers are involved with only 1 agency (69.6%), 19.2% were involved with 2 agencies.
Do you currently Volunteer? How many Volunteer jobs do you do? What benefits do you se...e in doing more than 1 Volunteer job?
I look forward to your comments.
