Kat Robinson suggests some grilled vegetables and fried fish at The Flying Fish for lunch today. Add in a walk and some iced tea, and you have yourself a nice fall lunch break. In the River Market. (501) 375-FISH.

First off, might I just say that I find it incredibly odd that there are three -- THREE -- eateries in the River Market with the first name "flying." There you go.

Kat Robinson wants fried pie from Stout's. Just about any flavor would be fine.

Home cooking restaurants may seem to come a dime a dozen. But Stout’s Diner goes a lot further than the average, and I'm sure glad for that. The former gas station north of Gravel Ridge sits on the east side of Highway 107, a white building with a little flea market on the side. ...

Kat Robinson really wishes she could have that strawberries & cream on a homemade biscuit from 302 On The Square in Berryville about now. That and a big sloppy salad or hot dog. Consider this a lunch suggestion for the traveler. Oh, man.

Now this? This is what a roast beef sandwich should look like. Instead of pressed meat or a sliced mystery, there’s no question about what this is… prime tender chunks of roasted beef on a ...

Kat Robinson suggests you check out the new Junior League of Little Rock cookbook, Big Taste of Little Rock. It's pretty, full of facts about my hometown, and it has some great recipes. I adore the Chipotle Sweet Potato Casserole!

www.arktimes.com
I gotta tell ya, I love cookbooks. Must have a couple hundred of them -- ranging from Apicius (ancient Rome) to Le Menagier de Paris (14th Century French) to Cake Doctor to The Joy of Cooking and ...

Kat Robinson suggests celebrating National Sandwich Day with one of the great favorites at Jimmy's Serious Sandwiches. I like the Garden, myself. Go for the twice baked potatoes and the Red Zinger Iced Tea. On Markham across from War Memorial Stadium. (501) 666-3354.

I don’t like cooked spinach. Raw spinach adds a certain flair to salads, and I’ll eat it by the handful. But early in my life, I was exposed to badly cooked spinach, and I usually avoid it.You ...

Kat Robinson Did you know that Arkansas drivers have a one in 106 chance of being involved in a deer-car accident EACH YEAR? Keep your eyes open.

University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service News - Oh deer: Collisions with cars on the rise
Debra
Debra
"...deer can cause injury and even death for Arkansas motorists." That's interesting. Seems it should be the other way around. We kill them, eat them, bulldoze their habitats so they have nowhere to go, and our cars cause injury and death to them; they don't go chasing our cars down. Those statistics are unbelievably sad - for the deer.

Kat Robinson is really craving some cinnamon cream pie from Franke's Cafeterial for lunch today. More choices than you can shake a stick at, and plenty of ways to go about it. Plus, just about every congealed salad you might imagine. Downtown and out in the Market Street Shopping Center.

www.tiedyetravels.com
Arkansas’ oldest restaurant isn’t a barbecue shack, or a hamburger joint, or even a steak place. It’s a cafeteria. That may sound pedestrian, especially in this age of Luby’s and Ryan’s and sorts. ...

Kat Robinson suggests brightening your lunch hour with organic eats from The Station.

www.arktimes.com
Eating local and organic has become a lot more than “weeds and seeds” munching, that’s for sure. More restaurants are offering options that include Arkansas raised and/or produced products and ingredients that are organic and free of chemicals.

Kat Robinson can now suggest Atkinson's Blue Diamond Cafe in Morrilton. Great plate lunch!

www.arktimes.com
One astute reader responded to yesterday's Facebook lunch suggestion with one of his own. Wes Holden suggested I check out Morrilton's Blue Diamond Drive-In, and since I was headed that general direction I decided to takehim up on it.
