In June, the US... House of Representatives passed the American Clean Energy and Security Act. The Senate is now taking up similar legislation introduced by Senators Kerry and Boxer, called the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act (http://switchboard.nrdc.org/blogs/ddonig er/analysis_of_the_clean_energy_j.html). If passed, this legislation could dramatically cut carbon emissions and transform the nation towards a new energy economy.
Before this legislation can be considered by the full Senate, it must be voted out of the Senate Environment and Public Works committee. Sen. Specter sits on this committee and is a crucial vote in moving the bill forward.
