Mat Buffalo Audubon Society: Birds For Brains is looking for more fans to help spread the word about how easy it is to volunteer for Nature.

Birds For Brains brings kids closer to seniors and both closer to nature-

Birds For Brains was an idea that my two oldest and most loving kids came up with and with a little help came to be. It started as a pitch to the Nim's Island Reel Thinking Contest last year- "Feeding the birds does more than help the environment it can help the people... that watch them too! My kids' Great Grandpa had to move out of his house and into an apartment. This was a big change for him and he missed his yard, his friends and his independence. He is now in a one bedroom apartment in a city he does not know and losing his independence, friends and lifestyle really got him down. Last summer my wife, kids and I set up a bird feeder outside his window and we saw a change come over him. He was more talkative and seemed happier. He always had a bird or squirrel story to tell us and let us know of new sightings he had. He really missed seeing the birds at his old place. We would like to provide more of the elderly with bird feeders and the joy of watching nature. A volunteer program that provides bird feeders made from recycled fence panels and to fill the feeders is our dream." We won 4th place out of hundreds across the U.S. and now we have started implementing it.
