Jon Jenkins I apologize in advance for this lengthy and "blog-ish" two part post. If you are following me to track the progress of the new album, then you might want to skip these two.

If you have 15 minutes, here's something I've been contemplating from the "Music Is Art" file. Trey Gunn shared this amazing short film a few d...ays ago, and it made me think about how we experience different forms of art.

Music is a "time-based" art form. We experience it in real time, it starts and ends, it is constantly changing and developing as we listen, but when it's finished, it's gone - the experience is over.

What if we experienced a painting as a "time-based" art form, the same way we experience a piece music?

The film is 15 minutes long, split into two parts. Watch both parts for the full effect. Here is part 1...

Jon Jenkins Had some big breakthroughs on the new record with David Helpling today. Settled on which tracks will make the final cut and a song order that is absolutely mind blowing!

To prove we're still at it, here's a new Moments in Exile video taken today during some percussion editing....

Sounds great. I'm looking forward to hearing the final version. The snipets you guys have released thus far suggest a certain progression in tone from Treasure. I'm VERY curious to see how you may identify the instruments used. "Palm branch bound in twine."

The percussion arrangements that you guys are creating are really becoming the signature sound. So many people are using stock samples, but you guys seem to be creating some really unique stuff.

Absolutely! Do David and You carry digital recorders with you, so you can capture something that catches your ears? Either that, or you'd have to specifically go on a sample gathering field trip.
