Miami Criminal Lawyer David Edelstein Fascinating case from a constitutional law perspective. At a glance, the statue looks overbroad to me. And as for "crush videos," I must live a sheltered life! http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/07/us/07scotus.html?_r=1&emc=tnt&tntemail0=y

Good for you. It's good to see that continuing education isn't just for medical professionals. It seems as if there are more white collar cases being prosecuted. [Or perhaps that they're receiving more media attention]

@ Michelle Moore - White collar crimes are getting more attention these days. These crimes have been kept secret for decades until now. Thanks to Enron, AIG, and other high profile cases we now read about every corporate misdeed, it seems.

I think politically, these are important things for Obama to target. Especially considering the fact that he is relying on costsavings in part to justify the government's ability to afford the new healthcare plan.

Miami Criminal Lawyer David Edelstein A cursory reading of the federal statute prohibiting threats against the President (18 U.S.C. § 871 ) which can be found here http://bit.ly/ircmv , raises questions about whether the joker who created this poll could actually be prosecuted. Although it certainly was incendiary, I don't think it could fairly be constru...ed to be a "threat" under the statute.

Miami Criminal Lawyer David Edelstein Putting aside the judge's legal ruling, how we address seemingly fringe issues like this define who we are more than most people realize. I believe it was Alexis de Toqueville who once said that the most accuate measure of a civilized society is the condition of its prisons.

Miami Criminal Lawyer David Edelstein Check out this video where several "law enforcement professionals" with Polk County's High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) task force were caught by a hidden camera entering a suspect's house purportedly to search for drugs, stolen property and the fruits of any illegal drug activity (at least that's what the w...arrant said). Apparently, they did not find any drugs, but did find a Wii video bowling game which they thought was a lot of fun . . . . Miami Criminal Lawyer David Edelstein hopes the Miami-Dade County State Attorney's Office will decline to charge these boys in adult court. Through my contacts I have learned that the 15 year old had to suffer through the very nasty divorce of his parents and was being shuffled from school to school. At the same time, peer pressure and the need for acce...ptance, seemed to play a major role in the 13 year old's involvement. These are not excuses. But, if we are civilized, we shouldn't judge immature children by adult standards. That's why we have juvenile courts.

Montgomery clearly knew what he was doing. All analysts are briefed concerning security clearance.
Lets face it, many analysts have a high degree of technical skill and most could easily access classified information. When a warning screen comes up, it is not a tiny window in the corner of the computer, it is a monitor size warning which must be bypassed to enter. Miami Criminal Lawyer David Edelstein I swore to myself that I wasn't going to post anything today . . . until I came across this in this morning's paper. (What was that movie with Dolly Parton where they kidnapped their boss and tied him up?) Anyways, if the guy was into being tied up, who's to say he wasn't in to having his penis glued to his stomach? ; )

www.google.com
CHILTON, Wis. — A man whose penis was glued to his stomach testified Tuesday that a motel tryst with a girlfriend involving a bondage fantasy turned painful and humiliating after his wife, a second girlfriend and another woman burst into the room and harassed him because of his cheating ways.

I love this story! It actually ties into yesterdays' post.
Think about it: If this had taken place in a country where Sharia law was was enforced, all 5 people involved would have been stoned to death for adultery.
The women , first, then the man.
I must say that the women in this case have gone too far. Under the law, they must be tried.
... See MorePart of me feels that they are sick human beings, the other part wonders why they were so stupid, as to not slip him a mickey in his Martini....THEN carry out the gluing. He would have woken up, and not known what took place. Does the man deserve it? Yes, and No. The public humiliation of having to testify in a court of law, that his penis was glued to his stomach is punishment enough. I am curious to see how this end up!

Miami Criminal Lawyer David Edelstein Slightly different standards of indecency here in Florida. ; ) Under Florida law, "it is unlawful to expose or exhibit one's sexual organs in public or on the private premises of another, or so near thereto as to be seen from such private premises, in a vulgar or indecent manner, or to be naked in public except in any... place provided or set apart for that purpose." Leggings with high boots? Forget flogging, they'd just cut off your legs and feel fully justified in doing so. Any family protests would bring further dishonor to the entire family, thus everyone would be at risk, from the youngest child to the oldest adult. Very authoritative and dictatorial society with little or no individual rights beyond what is specifically granted to the population by those in charge.

There seems to be a serious clash of cultures. In the West, we may find this story hard to believe, but the cultural divide between Khartoum and Miami is an abyss. There will be no swift change to a series of dress codes that are more than a thousand years old.
Women in the Muslim dominated nations might want to make a statement, but they also realize that they face a risk in doing so. ( Note to David: In SOBE, they might be whipped! )
