After taking the 2008 season off, center Janell Burse returned to the Seattle Storm in 2009 for her fifth campaign in Seattle. The summer away from game competition helped Burse's body after she played year-round for an extended period, but she quickly found she missed the WNBA experience. ...

After more than two years of battling back problems, Seattle Storm forward Swin Cash finally got a chance to play healthy basketball again during the 2009 season. The result was a bounceback campaign that saw Cash return to her All-Star form.

I was skeptical when she was first signed because of her back problems. But now that she's fully healthy, she's better than before. Glad she's on the Storm!

After making a run at MVP as a go-to scorer over the second half of the 2008 season, Seattle Storm point guard Sue Bird returned to a more familiar role in 2009. Playing alongside a healthy Lauren Jackson much of the season, Bird resumed her status as the WNBA's best true point guard.

Great move all away around. More rest, time to spend with family and friends, and training time with the Opals and still will make it to Storm camp on time.

In 2009, Suzy Batkovic-Brown was the Seattle Storm's prodigal center. The Storm initially drafted Batkovic-Brown in the second round in 2003, and brought her over for her WNBA rookie campaign in 2005, when Batkovic-Brown played a key role off the bench. ...

Hopefully Suzie's time in the WNBL will give her time to rest and make her want to come back to Seattle next season. I think she'll do better now that she understands the system and is given more playing time.

As much as I like Janell, I think her biggest value to the Storm is trade bait for a higher draft pick. I wouldn't mind getting Appel, which would solidify the center spot for about the next 10 years.
