Mahut Center is a non-profit women's organization that helps low-income and marginalized women become economically independent. Focusing on women over the age of 40, Mahut helps women acquire the education and training and develop skills and confidence they need to succ...eed. At the same time, we work to advance the status of women from the weakest sectors of society and promote a just and secure employment market. We address the needs of low-income and marginalized women at two levels: 1) through direct assistance to women entering and mobilizing within the job market; and 2) through employers and policy-makers to promote equity and eliminate harmful and discriminatory employment practices. All our projects are implemented in cooperation with the local community, social change agencies, businesses, and local and national ministries. Operating in the greater Haifa area, Mahut Center serves more than 250 women annually. Its research reports and recommendations are disseminated to agencies and policy makers across Israel.
