Thanks Blair - we think there needs to be some good debate on these issues, and are happy to make a stand for consumers interests, particularly as there is high disengagement and a lot of people don't understand the impact/importance of these issues.

Powershop At Powershop we’ve been following the news leading up to Copenhagen. It's sparked a few geeky arguments about the relative merits of emissions trading and greenhouse gas reductions and.... Well it made us realise that no one has all the answers and if we're going to do anything useful we're going to have to start at ho...me. So we’ve decided to try and use 10% less power in 10 days

But it is wrong!! $100 billion dollars being syphoned from NZ's public purse because of mass hysteria perpetrated by quack science is no small price to pay!! In fact it's criminal. Here's what should happen: all those in favour of *donating* money to energy research say AYE -- and open up YOUR wallets!!

In any case, reducing fossil fuel use is a good idea even if you discount the global warming issue. Burning fossil fuel releases mercury, nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides, particulates and all sorts of nasty stuff. Mining for fossil fuel also negatively affects the environment. Besides, all these stuff will run out sooner or later.
