The 92-year-old bridge is deteriorating and has become a safety concern. It is only open to one lane of traffic, and a portion of the bridge's northwest abutment has been undermined by erosion from heavy rains. Sidewalks on the bridge lack structural integrity, and the roadway pavement is failing.
