Beautiful idea. I loved the video but, for me anyway, the audio was really broken up, so I watched it silently.

Newly discovered Mayan murals, uncovered during an excavation at Calakmul, Mexico, offer a glimpse of the life of ordinary people instead of the more common depictions of the concerns and lives of Mayan ruling elites, according to the researchers who found the artworks.

So proud of the many steps Mexico is taking to make our world a better place in which to live; not to mention all of nature's other creatures out there that will benefit from a cleaner environment.

As a developing country, Mexico is setting a good example for other developing countries, like China and India.

Rainforest2Reef, Inc. The Second Annual Tropical Tree-athlon Ends November 1: Help Expand the Selva Maya Wildlife Corridor
Rainforest2Reef and the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund are holding our second annual Tropical Tree-athlon! For every dollar that you contribute, the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund will match with ...a $2 gift. That means that a $60 contribution will now protect 10 acres of previously threatened rainforest land; a $120 contribution protects 20 acres.
Why is this important? Tropical deforestation is now the leading cause of global warming; preserving these forests is an essential solution to reducing the world's CO2 emissions. In fact, protecting just one acre of tropical forests saves an equivalent amount of CO2 as that produced by driving a car for one year.
With the recent introduction of climate change legislation from the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, lawmakers are starting to realize what we are Rainforest2Reef have known since our founding: deforestation must be stopped in order to halt global warming.
For the past decade, Rainforest2Reef has worked to preserve land in the Selva Maya Rainforest of the Yucatan Peninsula. To date, we have successfully protected hundreds of thousands of acres, and kept millions and millions of tons of carbon from entering the atmosphere. We are currently expanding our conservation efforts to create a wildlife corridor that will eventually connect three million acres of protected land.
To fulfill this vision, we need your help. While the Senate debates climate change legislation, when it comes to protecting the rainforest, the world cannot wait. Help us make a difference now by joining the Tropical Tree-athlon and donating on our website, www.rainforest2reef.org. After all, protecting standing forests isn't just necessary; it's also something that is easily within our reach.
Please make your contribution by November 1, 2009, to be a part of the Tropical Tree-athlon.
