REALTOR Marketer More great news! Pending home sales rise 6.1%. With Tuesday's expected vote to continue the tax credit and extend it beyond first time home buyers - positive momentum could be building.

www.cnbc.com
Pending home sales rose for the eighth straight month in September as new home buyers rushed to take advantage of the tax credit before it expires, according to an industry group.

REALTOR Marketer Extension of tax credit could be approved by next week. Existing home buyers may also benefit from this program with a potential $6500 tax credit. If approved, how much of an impact do you see this having on your local market?

Congress could approve extensions of an $8,000 first-time homebuyers’ tax credit and unemployment benefits as soon as Nov. 3, Senate Majority Leader [bn:PRSN=1] Harry Reid [] said.

It should help bridge the gap between lost equity, buyers' nerves and sputtering economy. The proposed income level changes will REALLY help in this region!! But waiting is causing undue havic. Just heard rumor Wells Fargo may not honor 11/30/09 settlement dates if they get too busy.

Extending this will really help. What is not helping is the appraisers right now.

maybe you should encase a nice young couple in ice. they are the ones getting "frozen" out of the REO purchases they could be making.

REALTOR Marketer Another positive housing market indicator! Sales of existing U.S. homes surged a record 9.4 percent in September. While this might not indicate a full-blown recovery, the signs seem encouraging.

Time to let the credit go as it will kill the market when it ends unless its extended for 3-4 years so the economy can recover. It should have also been offered to everyone as well. Just another bad Obama program. Cut Taxes= Jobs

REALTOR Marketer Obama administration offers new help to local and state housing agencies. How much of an impact will this have on keeping the positive momentum going? Will the housing market need more government stimulus? If so, what should be the highest priority plan moving forward?

abcnews.go.com
The Obama administration today announced a new effort to help battered state and local housing agencies provide mortgage help to hundreds of thousands of homeowners. The administration said the new plan ...

I do not believe for a minute the recession is over. The housing market is a mess. The condition of the bank owned properties for the most part are a real nightmare. The "short sales " with the banks take far to long to process. Who is really watching what the banks are doing with the people??? The government is really clueless. When people ... See Morewant to refinance even if it is a fixed rate, the appraisals are a problem. If the government really wanted to help the people that want to stay in their homes, give them a fixed rate and forget that the property will not appraise. Oh, but then the bank will not make as much money. Let's see the banks would rather let a property sit and we all know the conditions of some of these properties sitting (mold, etc) than let the homeowner keep the property.

Really the housing market needs help and we really need the tax credit to extend past the Nov 30th deadline.

Recession Over? I doubt it, the real estate market certainly is not reflecting it. Sadly we will probably not see real economic recovery until we find a fiscal conservative in the White House again, it has been to long. If you think so ask the auto dealer how busisness now there is no cash for clunkers, an extention of the first time home buyers... See More would be good but it still tends to mask the real problem of the lack of consumer confidence as well as a credit market that over compensated and is to tight. Everyone hold on this ride is far from being over.

Considering that my market area (Cape Coral,FL) got so much exposure as foreclosure capital. I found it odd that Forida did not make the list. Sales are brisk. Inventory is shrinking. Good news is that traditional resales are re-appearing. Maybe confidence is creeping back in. Prices are right. Even luxury properties are coming on the market. "Season "is about to hit. Curiously, new foreclosures are coming on market at lower prices despite recent sales at 10-20% over LP.
