What's In My Kit? (featuring Jamie Lee Curtis)
Hi, I’m Jamie Lee Curtis. You already know the essential items for an emergency kit.
I’m going to customize one to make it a little more user friendly for your family specifically.
I think you should have a picture of your family in your kit.
My favorite thing to have in the kit is candy and games. Children have a lot of time so you want them to be occupied.
Another favorite: rechargeable flashlight.
Dental Floss!
Almonds or chips!
I live in earthquake country, where there will be a lot of broken glass, so I suggest solid shoes for every member of your family.
Let's Make a Kit (featuring Jamie Lee Curtis)

Give blood where you are. The Red Cross has to be ready for emergencies 365 days a year in every state. Plus they need to cover the daily blood needs for cancer patients, organ transplants, joint replacements and people with chronic blood needs. Only you can help!

Kathy - I'm so happy your daughter and SIL are ok. Barb, I will keep your brother in my prayers. My husband is at Ft. Benning. I know it's not Ft. Hood, but it's still a military base and Ft. Hood hit close to home. Many of his platoon are heading to Ft. Hood when they are done with training.

American Red Cross is wondering what would motivate you to learn CPR. Online courses? Local events? Let us know!

Source: redcrosschat.org
CPR is a potentially life-saving skill that most of us know is valuable, but it can be intimidating to take the first step in learning how to perform CPR. I know I’ve wondered before whether I would even have the presence of mind in an emergency to administer CPR correctly. ...

The Sandbag Funnel is and easy, inexpensive way to create sandbags and help protect your home or business from flooding and water damage. Preventing flood damage can also help protect your family and friends from dangerous molds that often are not covered under home insurance policies.

Also remember to give to your local chapter, each chapter supports themselves. Money given to national goes toward large scales disasters (which is great too, but)... it is the chapters that serve each day to home fires and etc that could really use your help as well.

With little to no funding from national, each chapter holds their own. So don't forget your local Red Cross. Donating to your chapter helps your neighbors in your community!

Thanks for the infromation Moria. Each local ARC Chapter needs your support. Nation ARC will hold a day of giving on Dec 13th this money will go towards national disasters. We need money on the local level to support the house fires, in Pierce County Washington we average a fire every 24-36 hours. If you can not give volunteer. As a volunteer for 24 years I know the rewards I have received in the forma of hugs from the many families we have helped.
