What's In My Kit? (featuring Jamie Lee Curtis)
Hi, I’m Jamie Lee Curtis. You already know the essential items for an emergency kit.
I’m going to customize one to make it a little more user friendly for your family specifically.
I think you should have a picture of your family in your kit.
My favorite thing to have in the kit is candy and games. Children have a lot of time so you want them to be occupied.
Another favorite: rechargeable flashlight.
Dental Floss!
Almonds or chips!
I live in earthquake country, where there will be a lot of broken glass, so I suggest solid shoes for every member of your family.
Let's Make a Kit (featuring Jamie Lee Curtis)

Heather Solsma A friend told me about a great way to support the American Red Cross by buying Christmas ringtones. I have already purchased three of them. I encourage all of you to try it out as well. The coolest thing I have seen.

Bob I'd like to see your "Holiday Mail for Heroes" be extended *beyond* December 7th... Admittedly, I do not know know the logistics of the program, but as a retired military member who's received mail through various programs, I can tell you that mail received AFTER the holidays is also greatly appreciated...

Hi Bob! I work with the Holiday Mail program. Thanks for your service to our country! We are always looking at ways to expand this program because it is so popular. The screening and sorting required by DOD does require us to get started early so we can get the bulk of the mail distributed during the holiday season. But we hear 'ya! I hope that some day we'll be able to do this for other holidays too. Thanks for your support!

I use my unheated enclosed front porch - the milk won't freeze if I put it next to the inside door. Quite handy in the winter!

Rod Simmons Just a suggestion. I think the American Red Cross should have a annual 5k race in each state to raise money & awareness of what you do for the world.

The Earth is warming up so much that it is snowing in Texas. While Eugenio is correct in that we must "save our planet" or in other words, use it wisely, we must also not be played for fools by the fact skewering "experts". CO2 is going to be consumed by trees, plants and vegetation thus making them flourish. The Earth will continue to make more ... See Moreoil as it has done for eons. The temperatures will fluctuate up and down, it's a way for Earth to self regulate it's temperature. This planet was very well designed. Meanwhile certain people are making billions of dollars by getting people all worked up. If something catastrophic is going to happen we can do nothing to stop it. Don't fall into the sheeple trap. Make the best out of your life and leave the rest up to God.

American Red Cross is noticing lots of reports about home fires this week. Take a moment to review our Fire Safety Checklist (in link below).

We’ve noticed an uptick in the number of local newspapers reporting home fires this week, so I checked to see if our local Red Cross Twitter feeds are also seeing fires:
