For the past two weeks I’ve been frustratingly helpless as our website sat broken. A extremely high traffic spike shut down the site on the very day I left town for a week of speaking in Wisconsin. ...

Michelle Lindsay Gilbert

Michelle Lindsay Gilbert I would love to see an article with more suggestions on how to get your child to really listen to the sermon. An older woman mentioned once that she believed that sitting in the service as a child actually encouraged her to daydream since the information was so far above her head; for that reason, she prefers more chi...ldren's programs, to keep them truly learning, rather than just sitting quietly and behaving. I find it a challenge to help my boys (8 years old and 6 years old) really keep their minds on the sermon. I visited a church once where the pastor typed up a children's outline (mostly just a simplified outline with blanks in key places). I think that's a great idea, but not all pastors have time to do that. I know you don't have any children that age yourself yet, but I thought that you might know some ideas from other families in your church. Thanks!

We've been bringing our 2 1/2 year old into the whole service now for a few months, and boy is it a struggle! :) I'll see if I can find someone to offer some suggestions; I need help here as well! :) I think some of this can be solved with training during family worship, but other than that, I'm as needy of advise as anyone!

Some encouraging words from Doug Wilson for those of us who labor in having our very young children worship with us. I can personally attest to the fact thatcommittingto this is sometimes hard work, but the rewards are great! No tag for this post. Related posts No related posts.

Bob Kauflin arrangedthis song for GLAD in 1983. If you’re tempted to buy into this kind revisionist history, make sure to read Measuring the Music by John Makujina and my book, Worship in Song for refutations. A man in a church I spoke in last week gave me a GLAD recording with this cut on it. ...

This is a fascinating article about the roots and future of heavy metal music. I tend to agree with the author on several points. Note what he says about the roots and characteristics of most pop music, especially...

Interesting article. Question--if they are so against modern industrial culture, why do they use electronic instruments and heavy amplification? Would not using entirely acoustic instruments be more in line with their professed ethos?

The second video in the article was the most interesting to me. You can really hear a connection to late Romantic period stuff in it, and it doesn't use a lot of electronic instruments or heavy amplification (at least not compared to most metal).
