This David Brooks op-ed is stirring a lot of people up: He says reporting on the Ft. Hood tragedy "ignored the fact that the war narrative of the struggle against Islam is the central feature of American foreign policy. It ignored the fact that this narrative can be embraced by a self-radicalizing individual in the U....S. as much as by groups in Tehran, Gaza or Kandahar." Isn't what he's really that, "The consequences of our worldview have come home to America" ?Read More

The well-intentioned public commentary that followed Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan’s rampage at Fort Hood denied any possibility of evil in his actions.

Rethink Afghanistan Very thoughtful, incisive article by the former special assistant to the UN Secretary General. "The reality is that the War of 9/11 against al Qaeda and its backers will not be won -- or lost -- in Afghanistan."

Two conclusions are inescapable from the fiasco of Afghanistan's presidential elections and the McChrystal assessment: There is no electoral solution to Afghan government's crisis of legitimacy, and there is no military solution to the challenge of the Taliban. ...

Rethink Afghanistan is a BRILLIANT Documentary that clearly makes the case for an end to our occupation in Afghanistan. It's completely non-productive and self destructive !

What was the last country to conquer Afghanistan? Don't say the Soviets or the Brits. Remember this is their country and they will defend it. We are the invaders this time, and they will run us out too. We would do the same if our soil was invaded.

Thanks for the posts Pubali...I thinik someone should list each cabinet member of Karazi's government, each department head, so we know who they are and what is their background. It is insane to say "clean this up in 6 months or we may leave Afghanistan", as if we didn't know they have been corrupt since we put Karazi in as President 5 years ago... Read More. It is a smokescreen way to End the War, and if that happens, I'll be very happy. The press covers nothing except the press releases from the Pentagon and Defense Department. The stories are repeated on the evening news as if they are being "reported" instead of being repeated, sometimes verbatim. Keep the posts coming Pubali. I too am reading Malalai's book. Everyone in the Obama administration should read it, and everyone who cares about innocent lives in Afghanistan should read it also.

John: It wd be no use everyone in Bama's administration reading it. They know all this perfectly well already. The mistake is to think our foreign policy is a series of blunders. It is not. What is happening is what is meant to happen.

Pubali "In our day, the American way of war ... has proved remarkably heavy. Elephantine might be the appropriate word. The Pentagon likes to talk about its "footprint" on the geopolitical landscape. In terms of the infrastructure it's built in Iraq and Afghanistan, perhaps "crater" would be a more reasonable image."

And when I came to the U.S., a Professor who specialized in Victorian Brit Lit insisted I spell "colour" "color" and "judgement" "judgment." This, I was told, was to help my readers understand. As for me, I am yet to understand why those prospective readers - reading graduate school papers, they wd presumably have some degree of education - wd be so ignorant of a world outside the U.S. that they would blanch at encountering "colour."

I love my country. I am an american. But first I am a human being. After watching this movie everything became clear after years of feeling and thinking something is very wrong.
i just couldn't put my finger on it. it was not clear. Everything I have always felt has now become clear to me. The question now is what to do about it. It seems we have two choices submit or resist. I choose to resist for all the human race. What will you do?
