RIS - Reviving the Islamic Spirit
The Reviving the Islamic Spirit (convention would be incomplete without its companion, the knowledge retreat. In the past years, the week-long knowledge retreats were held after the conference.
The knowledge retreat program is an attempt to introduce students to some of the major themes that underscore the core sciences... of the Islamic Tradition. It is also an opportunity to take us beyond the artificial and invisible walls that often separate students from teachers. Participants will have an opportunity to interact with teachers and to network with fellow students as well.

LifeMakers North America presents “Inspiring Change”, a 4 day retreat filled with inspiration and motivation, geared towards bringing together talented Muslim youth and inspiring them to be the force of change to better their communities.
The focus of the retreat is to inspire future youth leader...s to use faith as a motivator for spiritual and community development. Discussions will revolve around understanding our purpose in life, transforming our energy into action and working towards improving our communities. We would like to share with you details of our upcoming Summer Retreat. This Retreat is titled 'Inner Dimensions of Islamic Worship' and will be held at Camp Kinark - Minden, Ontario from June 27 to 30.
Following teachers are confirmed for the retreat;
- Imam Zaid Shakir (USA)
- Imam Tahir Anwar (USA)
- Imam Dawood Yasin (...USA)
- Shaykh Jamal Zahabi (Canada)
We have also confirmed SEVEN8SIX for a special campfire nasheed session during the retreat.
A detailed program outline will be posted on our website. Some highlights include hiking with Imam Zaid and Imam Dawood, campfire sessions with Imam Zaid and Imam Tahir, Calisthenics with Imam Zaid and Imam Dawood, Quran and daily remembrance sessions with Shaykh Jamal, sports and other activities with most of the teachers. And of course, a lot of beneficial classes with our teachers.
We have confirmed halal food for our program and in the process of working out all the activities, including archery, high rope, rock climbing, water sports and more. This program will insha-Allah be a great experience
and a highlight in our summer calendar of programs.
