With all the police, FBI, CIA, Secret Service, etc, we have in this country, why is it so difficult to track 3 people in the country and assure that they leave when they are supposed to leave? Just another outrageous example of beaucracy, eh?

We can't track people with visas, however if mad cow ever showed up in some hamburger, we could find out exactly when and where the infected meat came from. Go figure. Maybe we should make all people with visas stay chained to a cow while they're here. :o)

Gayann Tricarico Barbella OK Robi; here you go. How come modern society financially rewards those who contribute little or nothing to it, and penalizes those who contribute most. Mothers vs Professional Athletes - teachers vs lawyers - and so on and so on??????

Okay, we just had a blog yesterday about lazy students...kids who sit on their tooshes all day and expect to pass to the next grade and be handed a job. This is the same scenario....Everyone is screaming "foul" because these kids aren't getting a free pass handed to them. What people don't understand is what it costs to run a business. Everytime... See More the Redsox open up their private venue for the use of others, there are overhead costs for utilities (lights, heat) , salary costs for maintenance, service & security personnel. There is a liability risk forthe owners in the event that, say one of these athletes gets injured while being on their property, using their equipment and facility, or a spectator slips on ice in the stands. This situation is not about "haves" and "have nots" OR the Redsox being greedy...it's more about the teens of today that feel ENTITLED to freebies, handouts, and free passes across the board, without making one drop of effort or investment. If these teams want to "rent" the facility, then they should have been working a long time ago (this wasn't a last minute event) and started earning the honor by working for it through fundrasing and saving their $$$. Sounds mean, but makes sense...doesn't it?

Robi - one other question....what ever happened to your "road trips"? Wouldn't it be nice if they could send you someplace warm this winter? Considering the temps today...maybe that should have been in the unshredded contract. :-)

It's sad, but I'd have to agree with her. Even when I went to college back in 1990, the international students were the ones studying when everyone else was partying. But the comments from the BU student have no merit. Did she say she didn't like teaching here or did she just write about what she sees and experiences? Should she really leave ... See Morethe country because she has lazy American students? Those comments must've come from one of the slackers who took offense and didn't like hearing the truth.

So if a dad calls up a US Embassy and says "I think my son may be a terrorist" that's not enough to get the kid on a no fly list? No, it's not. It does land him on a terror watch list but before you feel any sense of security from that consider this: there are 55,000 names on that list already...

Having been stuck on a plane for over 4 hours, I would not be pleased with a 3 hour limit. I would rather see flights remain at the gate rather than sit in the "penalty box" at airports like O'Hare or DFW.

I agree - planes should not pull away from the gate until they have been assigned a take-off number. And under no circumstances should a plane be considered "on-time" once it pulls away from the gate. Sitting on the runway or tarmac doesn't count. And I personally think 3 hours is too long for anyone to be stuck in a plane on the runway, but it's a start.
