by Erik Whittington I was recently asked, “Erik, what are you thankful for?” Lots! Of course, I am thankful for my awesome wife, kids, family and, of course, God, who takes care of us. As personhood advocates, we have a lot we can be thankful for. He...

I am thankful, of course, for my wife and daughter, good health for all of us, good employment, etc. More polemically, I am thankful I live in a country where people's sexual and reproductive lives are respected, one where the right to privacfy extends to controling your body. We are thankful to live in a country and time period where we determine if and when we have children, and how many. It is not something that is thrust upon us.

Most of our family lives in Mexico, where sexual and reproductive rights are still in the dark ages almost. This is largely due to the influence of the catholic church. Fortunately, this is changing daily to our side with the power of the church in constant, albeit slow, decline. Cannot happen quick enough for me.

I teach my daughter the importance of sexual and reproductive justice, the need to live from her own internal locus of control, and her responsibility to find her own existential fullfillment. ... See More

Yea, I am damn thankful for a whole lot right now. Life could not be any better for us.

How about adopting a child? I live in Dallas Texas area. We have hundreds of children in the foster care system available for adoption in Texas, that is, the parental rights have been terminated. It averages about one child per county. Yet there is nobody who wants them. Perhaps the anti choice crowd should SHOW us what they believe, instead of simply always telling/yelling. Much more powerful than wearing a stupid t-shirt or putting a bumber sticker on car.

I agree 100% and often wondered what in the world...just because the mother doesn't want it makes it not human? Wrong.
