David Sirota For the record, the same paper running this ad is the same one that said I was "over the line" for criticizing Karl Rove: http://bit.ly/6GbDep This is why I call the Washington Times "The Paper of Record for People Who Commit Hate Crimes."

The Washington Times has long been a Right Wing mouthpiece, so it is no surprise they would run this type of ad.....SHAME ON THEM!!

I'm sitting here laughing out loud at the prospect of someone, somehow, being "over the line" in criticizing Karl Rove. Likewise, any commentary concerning many Cheney Administration folks plus Hannity, Beck, Savage, Ingrahm, Levin, Coulter, ... - all that nest of (much self censoring, here). Reminds me, George Sans Clue has been laying low lately. I Laura teaching him some things?

A few weeks back, I wrote a column looking at how the media and political establishment spends an inordinate amount of time pretending to be outraged at the cost of priorities like health care while simultaneously ignoring the ballooning cost of permanent war-making...

Well, the Litinus test is certaintly set for some Democrates as far as the problem of Health Care Lobbyists , and who they gave their money too. Although this is a problem, at least those are identifird.

It seems like Bennet is turning out better than Salazar, who progressives worked hard to get into office. Ironic.

Well-known fringe freak show Rammesh Ponnuru published a childish screed in 2006 attacking Democrats as "The Party of Death." It was a (deliberately) provocative title - and we should thank him, because it's a perfect moniker for these troubling times...

I usually refer to The Washington Times as The Paper of Record for People Who Commit Hate Crimes. It is a fringe right-wing rag owned by the Moonie cult, and thus tends to tread in the most disgusting conspiracy theory and bigotry...

In my column two weeks ago, I made this very simple point about the reporting surrounding the cost of the health care bill:Political headlines of late have all been some version of Dow Jones newswire's recent screamer: "CBO Puts Health Bill Cost At $1 Trillion." That's as true as an Enron press...

Mark, that's because Medicare is a" halfway there" fix to a larger problem that is our "for profit " health care system. If it's so great why don't we go with for profit fire depts, police, armys, and other core commons that make it possible for capitalism to function?

I agree we need to face these idiots, but in person when possible, and in great numbers. Take James Inhofe (a bigoted idiot himself), who childishly insulted Senator Boxer yesterday regarding our lack of viable Climate legislation prior to 2010. He is a foolish denier of climate change and people like him, just like this idiot David spoke to, need to be confronted by a vocal and angry mob from our side.

Until then, they think they have the majority, which they sure as hell don't.

The term "idiocracy" means a nation run by idiots - and the term idiot is defined as "an utterly foolish or senseless person" and/or a "person of the lowest order in a former classification of mental retardation, having a mental age of less than three years old." There are many reasons to conclude...

the idiocracy is nowhere near power here. what we have is an status-quocracy, dominated by special interests like Wall Street. As to the idea that two old intellectuals have no right to suggest the Prez to rush his AFG decision, not sure of the logic. Only those in the military chain of command should have a right to comment? Almost all of the worst decisions in war are made by commanders in uniform.

Can't both sides of the story be true. Hasan was under tremendous pressure (as is the US armed forces) but he was also beguiled by islamic radicalism.

Yes, Simon, what you say can be true, but that is not what the traditional media are saying. Until proven otherwise, we have to assume that Hasan was NOT part of an international conspiracy taking his marching orders from a cave in Spin Boldak. Wolfie and the rest of his ilk are saying this guy was getting his orders from Al qaeda. Just not the case as far as we know and until that is proven, then we have to assume it is not true.
