Romemu As we approach Rosh Hashanah we face past wounds to return to wholeness. Come to an evening of discussion and introspection. The program begins at 7:30pm with a discussion on the power of memory as a healing agent, led by Rabbi David Ingber, to be followed by an audio-visual presentation on the aftermath of September 1...1th by photographer Abraham Menashe.

The presentation, entitled Union Square: A Harvest of Grief and Hope, captures the emotions of New Yorkers as they gathered in Union Square in search of solace. Forty-nine photographs, along with the names of those who perished will be projected against music from the high holidays (Avinu Malkeinu and Kol Nidre) to help us understand where we were on that tragic Tuesday, and where we long to be in our journey to recovery. A
question and answer period will follow the presentation.

Romemu member Abraham Menashe is a noted humanistic photographer and author of eight books. His photographs are in several museum collections, including New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of the City of New York, the New York Historical Society, the Jewish Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art. His work can be seen on the web at www.humanistic-photography.com.

Please note that space is limited so we recommend pre-registration. Call 646505-5708 or register at the JCC website.

Romemu Join us for an inspiring evening of teaching and stories that invite us into the mystery of Teshuvah. Teshuvah, or return, is the central theme of the Jewish High Holidays and New Year. This class is for all levels of Jewish learning and all are welcome.

Rabbi David Ingber is the Founder and Spiritual Director of Romemu. All his life David dreamed of creating a Jewish place where anyone of any background or denomination could come and pray in an integrated way, exercising one’s body, mind and soul. Romemu was created in 2006 and now offers Shabbat and holiday services infused with meditation and yoga, as well as a myriad of community groups, teachings, and events.
