Remind parents kids playing on lawns may be exposed to pesticides used to KILL things and can be absorbed thru the skin or ingested when they put their little fingers in their mouths. This can cause illness to their tikes years down the road. Best to go pesticide-free in your lawn and home and insist they play in pesticide-free areas (parks). Parents have the right to determine the condition of public areas their kids play in! Contact your city officials today!

YES! Thank you, Bev! We ought to have a right to KNOW whether our children are being poisoned with nervous-system disruptive chemicals... HOW ABOUT REQUIRING SIGNS POSTED ON CHEMICALLY MAINTAINED PROPERTIES (If they have the freedom to use it- which they do- AT LEAST GRANT US THE FREEDOM TO KNOW & TO CHOOSE WHETHER OR NOT WE WILL BE EXPOSED/... See MoreEXPOSE OUR CHILDREN TO THEM!) I'm glad you're out there, Bev... Hope to find more like you- around here I'm surrounded by ostrich-like folks w/heads in the sand! ♥ from NC

It's always good to see real, positive action, but do your part- Help educate, share links/spread the word, & REDUCE YOUR CHEMICAL FINGERPRINT (Tm S.C.French, 02009- Alongside carbon issue!) Children's health (+environment=connected):"A worsening-disaster-in-progress". Persons manufacturing, distributing, regulating (or not), & PURCHASING (though... See More oftentimes blindly) any/all hazardous substances HAVE RESPONSIBLITY to CLEAN UP the MESS ALREADY MADE, & PREVENT FURTHER INJURY/HARM... BUT WE'RE IN THIS TOGETHER. We teach our children, when they've wronged someone or caused a mess, APOLOGIZE & HELP CLEAN UP! WE EXPECT GROWN PERSONS, BUSINESS/INDUSTRY ACTUALLY BE A ROLE MODEL... AT LEAST the socially responsible behavior of a child?!) Pitiful to be caught, & forced to clean up, while we all supervise clean-up efforts? I'm inspired by concerned citizens who disperse information, & determinedly continue until we see true regulatory agency reform [no more lobbying, reform TSCA, enact KSCA, etc.]I HAVE FAITH we'll see better long-term decision-making, (i.e. More Human/Eco/World HEALTH respectful choices) as public awareness continues increasing across the globe. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families Great piece from Elizabeth Grossman about the price of continued use of hazardous materials that both pose dramatic security risks and steadily disrupt human biology.

The mere presence of chemicals linked to health disorders does not mean disease will result. Yet research scientists and medical professionals now say that based on the evidence, there is reason to be concerned.

Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families High levels of BPA found in workers has been linked to erectile dysfunction and other sexual problems in men. The researcher is now worried about effects from low-level exposure. Maybe this is the wake-up call needed to get some lawmakers to take chemical policy reform seriously?

www.washingtonpost.com
Exposure to high levels of a controversial chemical found in thousands of everyday plastic products appears to cause erectile dysfunction and other sexual problems in men, according to a new study published Wednesday.

Unfortunately, even though the risks have already been established about BPA causing early puberty in girls and other endocrine disruption, this erectile dysfunction in men (a fairly recreational problem, comparatively) will probably be what gets it banned.

Should our lawmakers be forced into exposure to BPA and suffered from this problem, laws would change immediately. Ah, but let the poor masses suffer and the lawmakers remain elite will be the real story.

Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families “When you have 92 percent of the American population exposed to a chemical, this is not one where you want to be wrong,” said Dr. Ted Schettler of the Science and Environmental Health Network. “Are we going to quibble over individual rodent studies, or are we going to act?”

Bisphenol A, or BPA, is linked to things like cancer, obesity, attention deficit disorder and genital abnormalities, and it’s been found in our food.

But no defender looks at the COMBINATION of all the chemical exposure. Science studies ONE animal, one chemical, one time. Absurd - real life is a constant barrage of way too many.
