In 2004, Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn founded Banger Films Inc in Toronto, Canada. Their first film, Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2005, screened at dozens of film festivals around the world and was released in over 30 countries. Metal also garnered Scot and Sam... a Gemini Award for Best Writing in a Documentary Program and several film festival audience choice awards. Their follow-up, Global Metal, has received critical acclaim from press and audiences in Canada, Japan and Australia and is slated for release in other territories in 2009. Banger’s third film, Iron Maiden: Flight 666, follows heavy metal legends Iron Maiden on a whirlwind global tour in their private Boeing 757, Ed Force One, and will be released on international “Maiden Day,” April 21, 2009. Hail to the Turkish fans! I've been reading a lot of the feedback from your part of the world. Your scene sounds like it's really flourishing.
Sam tells me that Turkey was among the top 30 countries that the Banger Productions crew were looking at visiting for Global Metal. While they didn't quite make it into the coun...try, there is some good representation in the Movie. You'll see some interviews at Waken 2006. Check out the Extras in the Global Metal DVD for some Raging Turkish Metal Heads and a writeup about the scene in the Soundtrack!

It is with great sorrow that we offer our condolences to a fallen brother. Robin Hutagaol, a beloved messenger of Metal for the Indonesian scene has left our world. The Banger crew had a wonderful time with Robin filming outside his store from which Sam's iconic Death Angel shirt was purchased from.
We wish the Hutagaol family peace in this tough time.

In a relatively sudden move by Facebook we have been blessed with the addition and merger of the original Sam Dunn page set up by Sanky Chaturvedi. Sanky, a devoted fan, saw an absence of any Sam Pages and created t...he first Fan Page that we're all familiar with. Unfortunately, Facebook has a pretty stiff policy on personality/celebrity/fan pages. The creation of our official page caused an audit and eventual merger of our two communities. Sanky and I had some good dialogue early and I hope that we can all help this page grow together.
