To find out more about the schools that match your son's style, you might check out the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2010, 26E by Edward Fiske. For application tips, try this site: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/apply/. For you, a few parenting books to consider: WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOUR CHILD LEAVES FOR COLLEGE: A Complete Guide for Parents Only... Read More by Mary Spohn, and College Survival Tips for Parents: Fostering Growth and Independence in Your Kids by Ceil Hall. Hope that helps! Let us know if you need more suggestions. :)

Stevee

Stevee I heard that you have refused to carry the book, "Luv Ya Bunches", in part, bc/ the book has a character with same-sex parents. If this is true, I am deeply offended. Would you ban a book bc/ it has a character with interracial parents? Very disappointed, and I won't be buying your books any longer.

So I hear Scholastic caved in to a 5,000+ petition on this issue and will carry Luv Ya Bunches in bookfairs after all. They are also promising to change their book review process to be more inclusive... we'll see. Before, the author of this book was justly insulted Scholastic actually requested she rewrite the book with a non-samesex couple before they would sell it. :-(

Hi, everyone! LOVE your book passion - I wish I could answer your questions, but the Scholastic Parents department doesn't actually have anything to do with the portion of the company responsible for book publishing. If you have any questions you'd like me to try to find answers for, please email us at sbrody@scholastic.com! I'm happy to hunt around for you guys. :)

Why has Scholastic Inc. refused to carry the popular book "Luv Ya Bunches" at their bookfairs? According to a Scholastic corporate memo, it's because a featured character has two same-sex parents (two moms). Heaven forfend they should actually acknowledge there are many same-sex couples parenting their children and sen...ding them to public schools. This is an cynical attempt to erase a large group of parents from the school community. For more info: http://www.bilerico.com/2009/10/scholastic_bans_book_with_lesbian_moms_from_book_f.phpRead More

I'm just curious as to why Scholastic Parent & Child magazine would find an ad like this one appropriate to incorporate into one of their editions. I

think it is in poor taste, the ad is offensive- why the heck would you put the picture of a beautiful baby on an ad about birth control?
Who dropped the ball on this one???
This magazine came home with my child from school, and I'm very disappointed in Scholastic's choice of advertising.

Heather Foote Happy to become a fan. Was woundreing if Scholastic has ever thought about expanding on Child Care providers? Like having the book clubs available for them to be able to use them the same as the schools do, having articles, magizens and other resources avalible to child care providers... It would be a great idea to do that, and I know a lot of providers that would love it if it was to happen
