Can we please put the healthcare reform on hold while we do something about our jobs, and unemployment benefits? I think the healthcare reform can wait--we need to do something about jobs now, before ALL of our jobs, and the economy gets flushed down the toilet.

Thank you for voting NO against health care reform. We n...eed more time to make more informed decisions. Also, why can't Congress ask everyday citizens to vote for whether they want government-run health care? We could have a special election, where everyone votes--give the choice, and the responsibility back to the voters where it belongs. Most of the voters would be so appreciative (and possible re-election for those in Congress) if for once Congress took into account what the voters REALLY want. Bring the power back to the people, and bring up the idea of letting American voters decide their health care decisions. After all, we are going to be the ones paying for it anyway.Read More

If we don't get the economy going and get people back to work, there isn't going to be any tax revenue going to the government to pay for healthcare or anything else for that matter- including senator's salaries! We can't just keep borrowing money from China indefinitely! Someday we have to pay them back!

Andrew - where do you think the money is going to come from that the government uses to pay for this healthcare? Subsidizing healthcare like this does not create real income - it has to come from somewhere or be printed.

The healthcare industry has transformed itself into a system where we pay premiums to cover wellness visits and runny noses... Read More. If we bought auto insurance the same way we buy health insurance, that would be out of control too.

What is wrong with us that we now want the government to provide so much? Health insurance is not a RIGHT. We have become an entitlement society and, if you think big corporations are currently taking advantage of us, at least there is some competition there. Government is a slippery slope. Where does it stop if we let them have this?

Mr Lugar,
You caused the spending by going to war. Could we afford health care if we didn't go to IRAQ? Could we afford health care if we didn't have the financial crisis? You, one of the 500 most powerful people on earth have presided over the last 30 yrs. of disfunctional, lobby-ridden, govt. You and your congres...sional friends have fostered most of the mistrust that exists of govt.
YOu and the republican party are anchors to progress. Healthy people and less burden for health care on small companies will more than pay for getting people access. Your argument against action today is so thin and weak. Please stand up and do the right thing.

Charles W Moore Insurance companies want to prevail and you are helping them. USA needs healthcare reform and this is the first step that you want to block. There as a pretty clear mandate last year. The govenor elections sort of clouded the issue but we shall see next year what the independents like myself will do.
