Oh, Claire...this whole mess has me very despondent. I feel it's all so hopeless. Is there any chance ANYTHING will work out? In any of the current situations? The politics on health care have made me sick (really, not hypothetically), the war is a waste of people and treasure, people are giving up on global warming action, and--you know what I mean!

I'm becoming terribly depressed about all this. Especially since I currently pay $20,000 / year for insurance--just for me. And now I hear from Blue Cross that it's going up another thousand or so.

And I can't get a teaching job because too many teachers were laid off...the schools naturally turn to those first.... See More

Sorry to unload, but I'm at the end of the rope. I'm rather hoping you have something -- some miracle! -- that will turn things around. But of course, I know you can't. The government doesn't work any more.

Thanks for being a great Senator,
Paula

Claire, did you get Missouri anything in the bill or are just going to pay extra for the deals given for Nebraska and Louisiana?

Also, what happens after 10 years? If we are paying for Healthcare for 10 years to receive 5 years of coverage than what happens next decade? Do we end up paying twice the money or do we get half the health care? Can you help me out I am a little confused?

Say no to KBR and Blackwater contracts! Say no to no bid contracts! This has made the war in Iraq outrageously and unnecessarily expensive.

Please look into the processing of soldiers pay and benefits by the private contractors employed by the DOD. They are incredibly slow! With the surge coming, this is a crucial area to protect our soldiers and their families from financial hardship. They cut employees right before the last surge and caused lots of . Either bring it back in house and hire the proper amount of people or make sure the companies do their job in a timely fashion.

As a former contractor in Iraq, I HEARTILY endorse new faces and new policies in contracting oversight. Far too many times military officers and federal civilians were deployed with very little training and expected to provide oversight on enormous projects with amazing opportunities for waste, fraud and abuse. Something that really needs ... See Moreaddressing is how to avoid conflicts of interest in formal or informal offers of employment or opportunities made to inspectors or officials by the companies they are looking over.

Is the new legislation that regulates ACORN applicable to some of the corrupt war profiteers who have stolen resources from our troops fighting the war on terror?

That is so true, but am wondering how it will fall out with the new administration. It is hard to change the way things have been going and I thintk it will take years to make this go into affect.

Senator Claire McCaskill As those changes occur, I’ll be looking specifically at whether this legislation will truly increase competition, bring down costs, help protect consumers, and ultimate bring us better health outcomes. And, any health care reform bill I vote for will have to be deficit neutral.

Senator Claire McCaskill The release of the work-in-progress version of the finance bill should not be seen as the finish line. It is the starting line. Now the hard work begins. I’m still going through all the details of the Baucus Finance proposal, which as of next week will undergo major changes as committee members amend the current bill.
