sequoia national park Hello Sequoia fans! Our friend Yogi recently wrote a book about his adventures in the Park and it's due to be published in Summer of 2010. Yogi is a great story teller and photographer, and he writes very well. Check out the link for more information and keep an eye out for his book next year!

Follow the link below to view the free events happening in the park for the next couple of weeks.

This will be the last round of ranger talks for the year until we start up snowshoe walks in the winter. The little bit of snow we got last week reminded the local wildlife to hurry up and fatten up for the winter - someth...ing they don't seem to have any problems with! The squirrels resemble fuzzy tennis balls and our Sherman Tree talks have been getting upstaged daily by two chubby bears, affectionately named The 10:30 Bears. As impressive as the Sherman Tree is, and as captivating as the talks are, the bears capture the spotlight and our talks have become part Sherman Tree, part Bear Viewing!Read More

Here is a list of events happening this week in the park. All programs listed are offered daily, free of charge, and are open to the public...

@David, gotcha. Sounded like "there needs to be" a recording when I read your post. You are correct, we could get snow at any time. The phone number for road/weather conditions is now listed in the Information box on the left side of the page.

Yes, some are starting to change color. As mentioned in the Fall Foliage post below, most of the forest is made up of conifers, but there are several kinds of trees (dogwood, black oak, etc) that change colors. Temperatures are in the 60's right now during the day so I would advise dressing in layers, and be sure and pack some warmer clothes for the evenings as it gets rather chilly after the sun goes down.
