New epic trance SGX track! I think you'll dig it if you miss my good old days of trancy things! Grab the download at http://www.protagonistrecords.net

Hey folks. It really bugs me when I don't release a new track for a long time, so I thought I'd fill you in on some things. Up till recently I've been in a bit of a musical dry spell, plus occupied with Protagonist...

Just a quick note to let you know that I've taken down the sgxmusic.com forums and moved the forum link on the top nav to the SGX section of the Protagonist Records site forums. The old forums I neglected for a bit and became overrun with spambots, which I apologize for...

Hero of the Grey Area has been added to Ambient-Moods.co.uk a new independent online record store that focuses on ambient and atmospheric music. The record is still cheaper via the Protagonist Records store, and I make more money that way, but hey, I thought I'd let ya know about it...

My album, Hero of the Grey Area is now available as a digital download through the FFR Store for $8.49. It comes with an unlock that lets you play Coactive [Over My Shoulder Mix] in FFR. Hero of the Grey Area is still cheaper through me at Protagonist, minus the FFR song unlock.

I've made available 30-second clips of some of my tracks to use as ringtones. Go ahead and grab SGX ringtones over at the new ringtones section on protagonistrecords.net.

I'm pretty excited about this. The guys who previously did the recently canceled 1up Show for 1up.com have started up a new videogame web show on their own called "CO-OP" at area5.tv and are using several of my songs as background music...

I did the logo and combinator skin for a Reason refill. It's a pretty hot refill full of Thor patches, so check it out at nucleus-soundlab.com.

Check out the new track I just began - press play at the top-right corner of the sgxmusic.com homepage. I'm trying to go more synthy with this, as I've been relying on acoustic instrument sounds as sound generators quite a bit for the last couple of years. Gotta switch it up...

Hi! I know I haven't posted much lately, but that's because I have some big projects in the works with some awesome people and I'll let you know what's going on soon.

I use Propellerhead Reason a lot for a long while. It's what I started on and it is still good. I use it occasionally rewired into Ableton Live 7 now, with a bunch of VST plugs. In the past I've gone through SONAR3, ACID Pro (really cool for bouncing your own audio loops and the best for choppin, reversing, and gene...rally screwing with audio really quickly, but the MIDI and audio routing features are pretty butt), and Cakewalk Project5 (pretty awesome for the price, easy to use, but missing some crucial advanced features that I found in Live).
FL Studio may be the best bang for the buck, and a lot of people like it, though I hate the "playlist" arrange style. Reason is still a great program that comes with a great set of sounds in the package, but its lack of expandability hurts it. I'd just use whichever you find easier to learn with. Neither is insufficient, especially for a novice starting out. You can always change over later, and its easier to learn your second DAW.Read More
