Simon Fraser University For a while, it looked like the UBC Thunderbirds vs. the SFU Blunderbirds: Errant passes, missed shots and interceptions almost cost the Clan women their 38th straight basketball victory Saturday. But they recovered in the last quarter (with help from UBC fouls) to win 67-59, at home.

Believe me, we (SFU) made enough errors to be re-christened "Blunder-birds"; but the women came back in the closing minutes and made the win.

Simon Fraser University Varsity women's basketball: Trinity Western 39 at SFU Clan 99. The 37th straight win for the Clan, simply taller and tougher. Was impressed by freshers Kristina Collins (guard) and Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe (forward). Hurt knees, though, for Lisa Tindle and Katie Miayzaki as the Clan prepares face UBC Saturday night (West Gym, SFU Burnaby, 7pm).

While we're talking about top scoring students. How about Ramsay Malange? The SFU psychology student from little Anmore is no doubt feeling on top of the world after winning the Premier's One World Scholarship ($20,000). Now he's heading down under. See: http://i.sfu.ca/Owbjdf
