Simply Hired just released new job data for the month of October, which presents the performance of unique (de-duplicated) jobs based on state, metro area, keyword, job title and occupational code. Below is a sampling of some of the key trends taken from the data.

Healthcare Going Strong
Registered Nurses was number 2 on the list of top unique jobs in October. In addition, every job on the top 10 least competitive jobs list was in the medical industry, with Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and Health Diagnosing and Treating Practitioners coming in the top three spots.

Dentists made a move up the charts this month, coming in 5th on the list of most new job postings with 1.9K new jobs in October. This earned it third place in terms of highest increase in new jobs, at 124% increase.

Seasonal Workers Still in Need
With the holidays nearing, many employers are still looking for workers to ease the upcoming increased load. This is reflected in the October trends as keywords such as part-time, sales, customer service, retail and seasonal made an appearance on the list of most unique jobs by keywords. Part-time jobs in particular also was the lease competitive job by keyword, a positive sign for people looking for extra cash for the holidays.

Restaurant workers seem to be particularly in need this holiday season. The top three most popular unique jobs by title were in the food industry: Food Service Delivery Drivers (2,652 new jobs), Food Service Managers (2,632), and Food Service Team Members (2,569).

Shipping and truck driving jobs also abound this season, with truck drivers as the second highest increase in jobs by keywords, and Truck Drivers, Light or Delivery Services topping the list with the most new jobs by occupation with +17.2K new jobs in October (with 8.6K of those jobs from UPS). Truck Drivers, Light or Delivery Services occupations had the highest increase of jobs with an increase of 327% over the course of last month.

Mobile Jobs
Mobile is here to stay! Computer Software Engineers, Applications topped the list of most unique jobs available, with 86,000 jobs in the US, signaling a steady increase in the popularity of mobile applications and a need for software engineers to create them.

Today we’re introducing the newest country to join the Simply Hired family of localized job search sites: Switzerland (www.SimplyHired.ch)!
