Santa Monica Public Library Director Bill Elliot is accompanied by pianist and Assistant Director, Tom Gerhold as they lead the SMC Emeritus' Lyric Chorus in a holiday season sing with a variety of Broadway songs and winter favorites. The Lyric Chorus, directed by Bill Elliot since Janruary 1986, was founded in the 1940's as Santa Monica Lyric Ch...orus. The three-part women's chorus became part of Emeritus College when Santa Monica College began its Emeritus College. This is a free concert and all ages are welcome. Space is limited and on a first arrival basis.

Santa Monica Public Library Just in time for starting the New Year off right, Linda Heisen, MA, MFT leads a workshop designed to help you discover simple, easy and fun ways to help reduce stress. Linda will walk you through gentle stretches and a progressive relaxation exercise to release tension in your body. Linda is a licensed psychotherapist ...in private practice in West Los Angeles. She has been studying , practicing and teaching various stress reduction, relaxation and meditation techniques for over twenty years.

The workshop will be repeated on Saturday, January 30 at 11:30 a.m., and again on Tuesday February 9 at 7:00 p.m.

This program is free and all ages are welcome. Space is limited and on a first arrival basis.

Santa Monica Public Library Join us for a talk and book signing by local Santa Monica columnist Frank Gruber, author of "Urban Worrier: Making Politics Personal". In his weekly columns for the "Santa Monica Lookout News", a news website established more than a decade ago when "The Outlook", Santa Monica's daily newspaper for over a century close...d, Frank Gruber has chronicled the life and politics of Santa Monica since 2000. "Urban Worrier" is a collection of those columns from just before the election of 2000 until just before that of 2004. Tickets for this free event are available at 6:00 p.m. the day of the program. Santa Monica Public Library Join us for this musical tour of the Los Angeles Clarinet Choir. The choir was founded in 2005 by clarinetist/conductor, Margaret Thornhill. Midway through the concert will be a show and tell of the various instruments. This free concert welcomes all ages, but space is limited. Tickets are available at 1:00 p.m. the day of the concert.
