Santa Monica Public Library On Saturday, Nov. 7th, we celebrated Sesame Street's 40th Anniversary with the Big Bird movie, crafts & cake, and a puppet show from Swazzle.

Edward Edwards will be directing a scene from 'Sure Thing'.
Misti Barnes will be directing a scene from her original webisode series entitled, 'It's Your Up'.
Nancy Linehan Charles will be directing a scene from her origina...l screenplay, 'American Circus'.
Louis Yansen will be directing a scene from a play by Hugh Fitzgerald called 'Father's Day'.
Each scene will be approximately ten minutes in length. At the conclusion of the four scenes, there will be a Q & A with the audience. The SHowcase is being produced by Gerry Welles.Read More

Generations of kids have grown up learning with Sesame Street. In November, the show marks its 40th Anniversary, so we're celebrating with a Saturday full of fun. At 11:00am, we'll be screening the Big Bird movie, FOLLOW THAT BIRD. At 12:30pm, kids can partake in a crafts, treats and activities hour. The Library is thrilled to welcome back 2006 Santa Monica Citywide Reads author Jonathan Safran Foer, who will be discussing his provocative new book, EATING ANIMALS. On the brink of fatherhood and facing the prospect of having to make dietary choices on a child's behalf, this on-again/off-again vegetarian began to exp...lore why we eat animals and would we continue to do so if we knew how they got onto our dinner plates? This special evening event is free, but seating is limited and on a first arrival basis. Tickets will be released at 6:00 pm the night of the event and early arrival is recommended.
