I just finished reading "Coop." Thank you for making me laugh, making me cry, and most of all, making me homesick. I grew up on a dairy farm (yes, with chickens) in southwest Wisconsin and I swear we could have been neighbors. (Except, of course, we couldn't given the location!) To finish that thought, after the Cody Public Library logged me off. People of my age group have many of the same feelings about northern Wisconsin as you do. We love the area, the history, and the people. I know a lot of my friends, myself included, want to stay there but find it increasingly difficult to do so. M...y generation was brought up by our parents and educators to go to college and strive to be the best. I find it disheartening however that these bright, young, educated folks, which should be our areas greatest asset for the future are becoming its greatest export. I could be wrong but it seems that you have at least some insight on this. I love your work and your music. I'll keep waiting and hoping your publisers o.k. on a book about your Wyoming years. Though I reside mostly in Cody, WY as a wild land firefighter I was fortunate enough to see you at the Heyde center the other week in Chippewa Falls. Thought it was great even though I my age group (early 20's) didn't have a strong showing. I think you have a lot to offer a younger crowd in books that don't come in t...he truisms of Northern Wisconsin that had the crowd rolling that night. Some of the funniest and true things you said came between the punch lines. Even though your readers are mostly an older crowd I feel people of my age might have more in common with you.Več
