I used to quip that I could write faster than I could read. And it was almost true.I've been a fairly good typist ever since I taught myself by attempting to write a mystery novel at age 10 or so. I got to 83 pages of single-spaced text. That's when I went back to read what I had written...

What is everyones opinion of SL LA? I am having a difficult time making a decision for 2nd grade which we will start in Jan. My daughter is 6 and will be seven in July, I plan on buying Core K, just confused about the LA, I think I am gonna go with MUS for math. I have read a lot of reviews and have heard the good and... the bad. I have been looking at First Language Lessons, and WWE by Bauer, we used MFW for first grade. Also looked at Abeka language, and my daughter does enjoy the workbook in small amounts. Any advice would be appreciated!!!Read More

I was gone since Saturday morning because I was in California for my father-in-law's memorial service. For those of you who are friends with my wife on Facebook, that isn't a big surprise. For the rest of you... that may have come out of the blue. Sorry about that...

Hello... need a little advice if anyone can help! My daughter will be coming home for school (yeah!) in just a couple of weeks. She is in PS third grade right now. She is 8 and will turn 9 in July. She is an excellent reader (Sixth grade level) and does well in all other subjects. She struggles a little with m...ath, but has no trouble keeping up with her class. I am wondering where to start her in Sonlight? I would like to get a Newcomer Package -- Should I do Newcomer 2 or Newcomer 3? I am leaning towards 3 because of the reading selections, but want to be accurate with the math. Can anyone help??Read More

College tuition costs are huge. That's why scholarships are so helpful. I was awarded an academic scholarship as well as a small sports scholarship for swimming. That money ultimately paid for almost a complete year at my university...

I first bumped into Greg early in my Sonlight blogging career because someone linked to one of his anti-homeschool posts...

Tip of the Day:Keep the things you've made just in case.I needed a prop we used a couple years ago for something I was working on today. It was a pizza box that we had dutifully smeared with oil to make it look like it was grease-stained.Pizza DeliveryThankfully, we still had it...

Angela Alley Winders I am so excited. I ordered P4/5 with Readers K yesterday for my 4yo daughter! We homeschooled our oldest daughter for 3 years (2 with Sonlight) and now she's back in public school (8th grade), but I really want to homeschool my youngest 2 daughters from day 1 and I can't wait to "officially" start Sonlight with my middle daughter!!!!!
