I have to say the new Muse album. Their last 2 were great, but this new one is just frickin awful.

I know this won't be a popular answer but I hate Kings of Leon's Only By the Night record. I just don't get them.

How about Elvis Costello's "Spooky Girlfriend"? Ghouls and ghosts are scary on Halloween, but you've got to watch out for psycho exes year-round.

Elliot Smith's "Needle in the Hay" is possibly the spookiest song I have ever heard. Wes Andersen is a genius when it comes to music creating a mood.

This was a great session! Even though they are French, they were not annoying at all! But seriously, I am hooked on Phoenix! I bought the "album" on iTunes, and have really enjoyed it. Just what my outdated music collection needed! Thanks for hooking me up!

Not crazy about Ms. Di Franco myself. But what is important about her as an artist are both her integrity and her independence from the industry. I don't like all of the music I hear on SO, but I do like the hosts' appreciation of both of those things. The fact that someone who is doing things on her own terms can fill up arenas makes her an interesting interview.

I have kids and teach kids, and can tell you there is no doubt that these music games have had an enormous effect on inspiring them to listen to music they would never find on the commercial radio they normally listen to, and very much inspire them to pick up instruments because they liked the feeling of being a part of music.

Good show as always. Jim's reaction to Greg's Mariah review was priceless. I have always reviled Ms. Carey but had to admit that We Belong Together wasn't terrible - her singing was stripped down and the melody was sturdy. It's A Wrap sounded like a plush pop confection and those can be hard to come by. I wouldn't buy it but I might not change the station if it came on. But serious Kudos to Greg for calling it as he heard it.
