completely agrees that the Bob Dylan Christmas album is abysmally creepy and one of the worst of 2009. More appropriate for a horror film where there's a killer Santa Claus on the loose.

Wow... I'm not the only one who awakens at 6am on Saturday morning to listen to Sound Opinons on KUT in Austin! You know, at first I didn't like it, but now it's sort of become my useful way to get started early and not waste a Saturday by sleeping late.

The new Muse album is so bad.

I wanna say Weezer, but I feel like that's way too easy. I'll put up the Flaming Lips' "Embryonic." To me, it was nothing but a record full of the kind of distorted "experimental" wankery that big-name bands let themselves indulge in far too regularly.

Not a big fan of GB from what I heard this weekend, but as always thanks for exposing me to something I would never have heard of otherwise.

I think "A Psychopath" by Lisa Germano and "Intruder" by Peter Gabriel are pretty creepy. By the way, my wife must think that PJ Harvey song is pretty scary because she always makes me skip it when we're in the car.

A week or so after the show, I was listening to Sufjan Steven's Illinois CD (Come On Feel The Illinoise). "John Wanye Gacy, Jr." started and I about sprained an ankle lunging for the "eject" button. (P.S. I really only felt safe after unplugging the CD player . . . )

there's such a great swing to their songs that is lacking in a lot music today.

This was a great session! Even though they are French, they were not annoying at all! But seriously, I am hooked on Phoenix! I bought the "album" on iTunes, and have really enjoyed it. Just what my outdated music collection needed! Thanks for hooking me up!

Not crazy about Ms. Di Franco myself. But what is important about her as an artist are both her integrity and her independence from the industry. I don't like all of the music I hear on SO, but I do like the hosts' appreciation of both of those things. The fact that someone who is doing things on her own terms can fill up arenas makes her an interesting interview.
