Larry Yurk Spot 1 owners were promised an offer to upgrade to the new Spot in November. We're still waiting. Can you give us an idea where you are on this?

Richard Reynolds hows the upgrade going for spot 1 users?

Michael Offerman Thanks for doing the giveaway.

Brad Ashton I sure hope we can get a trade in price for the newer version and transfer the account. I have had the original for a year and do not carry it much any more because the clip does not keep it secure due to it's size. I even bought the carry case and that clip broke catching on things due to it's size.

This is great,, I lkw the way that everyone can activily participate in how small gadgets affect the way they do things.
I like my SPOT for all of its capabilities,

Ray Middleton Yes Spot 2 does have a cover over the 911 help button to eliminate accidental activation. Same tracking features.

Ray Middleton Spot 1 $49.95 Spot 2 $170.00 I would go with the original. The newer one is smaller, has one additional feature that send custom messages in addition to OK check in message. Not that big of a deal for me.

I have the old Messenger unit (SPOT 1). New Messenger unit (SPOT 2) has advantages (size, GPS acquisition time, etc.) but battery life is significantly shorter. Also, the SPOT organization has no way to "transfer" the account from SPOT 1 to new version (SPOT 2). Guess I will have to live with the issues with the old... SPOT 1 unit.
My main problem comes when ending Tracking and wanting to send an OK message. I have to end tracking, power up again, wait about 20 secs then hit "OK". But, the OK message is sometimes not sent. I have to repeat it several times. I suspect it can't find GPS location but have no way of knowing waht is going on inside SPOT unit.
I think the SPOT 2 has an indicator to indicate GPS lock? That would help.Read More
