Reading Olive Kitteridge is a richly emotional experience. I would also like to lift up Nicole Helget's beautifully written The Turtle Catcher. Richard Robbin's Radioactive City, which won the Bellday Prize, is also great.

and I think my favorite read for 2009 is a book that actually comes out this month. "A Mountain of Crumbs," a memoir by Elena Gorokhova. Watch for it. I couldn't put it down.
